  1. First, understand what these three sizes mean

A3 and A4 are standard paper sizes. For flatbed printers, they refer to the maximum printing area:

  • A4: approx. 21×29.7 cm
  • A3: approx. 29.7×42 cm
  • 6090: 60×90 cm printing area, a medium‑size machine

Simply put, these numbers directly determine how large and how heavy your products can be.

  1. Choose by product size: enough is better than too big

If you mainly print small items: phone cases, USB drives, power banks — A4 is fully enough. Small size, low cost, ideal for personal startups and small‑batch customization.

If you print a wider range: notebooks, tablet cases, small ornaments — A3 is the golden choice. It covers most common gifts without taking too much space, preferred by print shops and gift customization stores.

If you work on tiles, wood plates, bags, large acrylic panels — 6090 or larger is required. Suitable for factories or professional processing centers with batch production needs.

One rule: the printing area only needs to be slightly larger than your biggest product. Blindly choosing a large format increases cost, space and power consumption.

  1. Choose by product weight: don’t overload the platform

This is easily overlooked but extremely important.

Small machines (A3/A4): platform load capacity is usually 5–10 kg, for light products only.Printing heavy tiles or metal plates on them will deform the platform and reduce precision over time.

6090 and above: reinforced platform and strong structure, load capacity up to dozens of kilograms, suitable for heavy products.

If your products are heavy — even small in size — always check load capacity first.

  1. Choose by future development: leave some margin

Based on your current products, consider your business expansion in the next 6 months:

  • Only phone cases now, may do tablet cases later → choose A3 for flexibility
  • Only small souvenirs → A4 has the best cost performance
  • Both small and large products → go directly for 6090

Upgrading machines later is troublesome. It’s better to leave proper room at the beginning.

  1. Other supporting factors to consider

Space: A4 fits on a desk like a regular printer.6090 needs at least 2–3 m² plus operating space.

Budget: Include not only the machine itself, but also installation, training and after-sales service. Choosing a supplier with technical support is more important than just comparing prices.

Summary: decide in 3 steps

  1. Measure the size and weight of your largest product
  2. Estimate new products you may do in half a year
  3. Combine space and budget, choose “enough” with proper margin

There is no absolute “best”, only “most suitable”.Choose the right size, and the machine becomes your profit tool — not just decoration.
