One core strength of UV printing lies in its wide material compatibility and flexible process expansion. It works not only as an independent printing solution but also pairs with various pre-print and post-print treatments, turning simple printing into a full surface decoration and forming solution. Below are combinations of UV printers with different processes.

  1. Pre-treatment & Post-treatment Processes

Direct printing delivers poor ink adhesion on low-surface-energy materials such as metal and ceramic. Pre-treatments including cleaning, polishing or special primer coating create an ink-friendly print film to strengthen coating adhesion. Post-print treatments protect printed patterns and add extra value. For instance, a clear UV varnish coating forms a protective layer that boosts scratch and weather resistance. It also delivers glossy, matte or frosted textures as required, a typical UV coating application.

  1. 3D & Special Processes

UV printers build raised embossments by stacking white UV ink or clear varnish layers. This creates uneven textures similar to oil paintings and tangible raised logos or textures on packages. Beyond layer stacking, UV printing integrates with foil stamping to achieve plate-free digital hot stamping. Print foil-adhesive UV varnish patterns on substrates first, attach hot stamping film, and transfer metal foil via varnish stickiness to get metallic finishes easily.

  1. Automatic & Extended Processes

UV printing evolves via integration with automatic equipment. Built-in automatic conveying, clamping and rotating units enable full-circle printing on cylindrical products like tumblers and tubes, greatly improving mass production efficiency for 3D items. Combination with heat transfer or UV DTF (Direct-to-Film) further broadens application scope. Print patterns on special transfer films first, then stick films onto irregular, uneven surfaces to solve direct printing difficulties on special-shaped goods. To accommodate curing requirements of different inks, machines adopt multi-zone variable-power curing technology. Matching adjustable UV power in one printing pass ensures stable, fast complex processing.
